Manufactured by Wheatway Solutions Ltd, the Gyru-Star Compact Screening Systems® is a fast and efficient screening system for screening soils, aggregates and compost. Manufactured in Gloucestershire, UK, the bucket’s unique design with flexible Poly stars provides a large screening area, thus maximizing efficiency.
Carbon belts for driving star shafts in combination with sealed bearings form a low maintenance system. Unlike chains, carbon belts are more durable, require no lubrication and are quieter.
The Gyru-Star screens the soil, aggregates, sand and compost without the need for grinding or crushing.
Screening can be used in many ways. While there are several soil control systems on the market, the Gyru-Star is unique in that it is designed specifically for compact excavators weighing from 2 to 50 tons , as well as compact wheel loaders, skid steers and agricultural tractors.
Gyru-Star screening spoon – specification

Key to the Gyru-Star design are the rows of spinning polyurethane stars that separate rocks and vegetation from the material to be screened. The unique shape, flexibility and star spacing also eliminate the possibility of clogging.
The Gyru-Star, although designed to be durable in high-grade steel and Hardox steel, is best suited for landscaping and smaller-scale engagements. The higher the quality of the source material, the greater the yield. Even a 6-ton excavator or skid steer can produce hundreds of cubic meters per day using the smallest models in the Gyru-Star line, while the larger buckets are capable of screening more than 1,000 to 2,000 cubic meters per day.
Gyru-Star screening buckets available: 2-50E, 3-60E, 3-80E, 3-100E, 3-120HE, 4-100HE, 4-120HE, 4-150E, 2-100L, 3-120L, 4- 150L.
Gyru-Star polyurethane stars have been found to be better suited than steel in many applications and also make the bucket much lighter. The service life of the stars is about 2-4 years. Replacement costs are minimal. Despite the large screening area, the Gyru-Star is small enough to be transported by any transport.
Another key differentiator is the Gyru-Star’s hydraulic requirement. Many screening buckets require a double acting hydraulic circuit and the Gyru-Star uses a standard single acting hammer circuit . It also does not require a free-drain line, and models compatible with Skid Steer, Bobcat, etc. are factory delivered ready for quick plug-in.
